Year of the Water Rabbit 癸卯
Welcome to 2023, the year of the Water Rabbit. Rabbit is the 4th sign of the Chinese Zodiac. Why do we call it Water Rabbit? Because based on the Chinese traditional calendar, we record the day by using elements. The heavenly stem of the year is Gui (Yin Water), and the earthly branch of the year is Mao (Yin Wood), referring to Rabbit. Therefore 2023 is a Water Rabbit year.
The 2023 Rabbit year starts on the 4th February 2023. It is the day of Li Chun (立春), the Beginning of Spring. The Chinese Astrological Year begins on the 4th or the day before or after 4th February every year. Many people have mistaken Chinese New Year’s day as the beginning of the astrological year. Chinese New Year is sometimes before the 4th Feb, sometimes after the 4th Feb. In 2023, the Chinese New Year is on the 22nd January. Babies born from 22nd January 2023 to 4th Feb 9am are still Tiger year babies, those born from 9am 4th Feb onwards are Rabbit year babies.
立春八字 (Li Chun Ba Zi):
We have experienced three years of the Covid 19 pandemic. In 2022 the damage control and repair work done worldwide was not very successful. There were wars in certain parts of the globe. It is sad to say that in 2023, the world is still not at peace. The Chinese astrology of 2023 shows some new light for the future. 2023 is a year of Water Rabbit. It will be the last year of period eight (the earth period). Period nine the fire period will begin when the rabbit year ends. This year will be a year of change for everyone.
From the立春 Li Chun Bazi: the year elements are water over wood (yin); the month elements are double wood (yang); the day elements are water over fire (yin); the hour elements are double fire (yang). This year has six yin elements and two yang elements. It is more feminine than masculine.
Rabbit is one of the Peach Blossoms in the Chinese Zodiac. The nature of the Rabbit is gentle, elegant and alert. They are also quick, skillful, tend to escape reality, but are often faithful to those around them.
From the element aspect: The day master is yin water. Although it is a water rabbit year, the water element is weak. At the beginning of the year, the wood element will be prosperous. Wood is the action element in 2023, which indicates that people will hurry to get things done without enough planning. From the middle of the year, the fire energy will rise. Fire represents wealth in the year, which means people will have a big desire for wealth, with blind investment or greedy actions, producing the opposite outcome.
From the star aspect: the ruling star of the year is 4. Star 4 in the current period represents study, academic endeavours, food and medicine. In 2023, there will be new medicines developed for old diseases, but medicines for new viruses will be lacking. Food-related matters will be on the headlines. Studying and researching will be popular.
The lucky elements for 2023 are metal, water and earth. These elements will bring balance to the year. Metal relates to metal objects, in the life aspect, it relates to thinking, learning and planning in this year. Water relates to actual water, and also relates to personal strength, power and capability. Earth relates to the earth beneath us, it also relates to discipline, goals and control of our ambition.
From an economic aspect: last year Mina predicted “In 2022, the inflation will increase. The price of basic items and properties will go up. The unbalanced elements of the year indicate a potential economic crisis”. Unfortunately, this prediction has become a reality and the interest rate has already hiked up three times. The value of money is smaller, this will continue in 2023.
As it is the last year of period eight, the world is experiencing great changes. It is not a good year to speculate on finance.
From a health aspect: sickness will relate to respiratory systems, digestive systems and the body’s circulation system. In general, it is another year for us to focus on our health and well-being. Take the chance to improve yourself. Plan carefully before acting. Look after yourself and your family.
